Alabama's Player of the Week
Chris Jones, the highly sought after college recruit, has blinding speed and great versatility as he proved against 10th ranked Clay-Chalkville. The Tenacious Tigers out-felined the Cougars 34-6.
The 5-10, 175-pound athlete rushed for 80 yards including a 50-yard touchdown run. He caught passes for 105 yards including two scores of 12 and 78 yards.
Defensively, he broke up two passing plays and returned kicks for 117 yards including a dazzling display of speed on an 81-yard touchdown run. The standout also booted two punts for 75 yards.
"It felt great being back out there," said Jones. "It was my first time being back on the field. It just felt great, and it was an honor to play on our field. I look forward to our game this week against Carver."
Minor's field succumbed to last year's heavy rains and rendered unsafe, forcing the Tigers to move home games last season.
Jones has an official visit to Alabama for the September 11 Penn State game. He also intends to take visits to Florida and Tennessee.
Minor will host Carver-Birmingham this week.
