Gadsden City has built momentum this year like a volcano ready to erupt. He rushed for 111 yards on 17 carries scoring two touchdowns against a very good Shades Valley team. He also caught a touchdown pass for 55 yards and returned a kickoff 95-yards for a touchdown.

Coach Joe Billingsley says of Smith, "Antavio is a player with heart, intensity, athleticism. He is a leader."

A lot of heros when you win a one-point decision over an undefeated top-ranked team in your region. Williams, a University of Alabama commitment, led Coach Kevin Sigler's defense to a 34-33 victory in this important game that brings the team's region record to 2-2. The Tide commitment had 10 tackles with six solo, recovered a fumble, picked off a pass and returned it 98-yards for a touchdown. He was also perfect on his four point-after kicks.

Spencer had 12 total tackles with seven solo, 2.5 sacks (three hurries), three tackles for a loss, caused a fumble and blocked a game winning field goal.

Binder had eight total tackles, with four solo, 1.5 sack (two hurries), two tackles for a loss, three pass breakups, and recovered a fumble for a 25 yard touchdown.

Perine had 10 total tackles with four solo, two tackles for a loss, two quarterback hurries and an interception.

Marsh had eight total tackles with five solo and an interception.

Davidson, last year's quarterback, has found his niche at receiver. He caught eight passes for 127 yards scoring twice. Another touchdown on the ground and a 55-yard punt return.

Toppings, the ninth grade quarterback, completed 17-of-25 pass attempts for 197 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

The big lineman who cleared the way offensively is Travis Lockhart, the 6-5 305-pound sophomore graded 90% and had five knockdowns in the win.

Blount will travel within their region to play Mary Montgomery this weekend.

Crawford Steinberg

Josh Magee
5-10, 170 pounds
Senior Wide Receiver
Larsen Real
5-10, 140 pounds
Sophomore Place Kicker
Hoover High School

Forgetting the first half, the second half of the game against Spain Park was a thing of beauty for the Hoover Bucs. It took a lot of poise, time management, and just plain old execution to come away with the 24-21 victory last Friday.

Magee managed to get in some creases which gave quarterback Ryan Carter the chances to complete safe and productive passes. The senior receiver caught six passes for 113 yards which included a 38-yard touchdown that sparked the comeback from a 21-7 deficit in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, Real looks like he has been kicking in big games for years, but his age belies that fact. The sophomore had a pressure packed point after kick at 21-20. He sailed that one through. With great clock management by the coaches and execution by the defense, he got his opportunity to win the game outright in regulation with a 29-yard field goal which he promptly fired through the uprights.

Hoover ventures down the road to play Mountain Brook this week.

Will Ingle
5-11, 190 pounds
Senior Running Back
Plainview High School

Ingle rushed for 169 yards on 16 carries in a tight 25-14 win over Guntersville.
