Theodore Head Coach Bill Meredith has his team at home for the first game of the 2009 season. Hillcrest-Evergreen (4A) took the victory in 2008 from the 6A program.

"We have a bunch of people back this year," coach Bill Meredith said. "We hope for a successful season. We have a good group of players. We will see how it turns out. You never know."

Theodore has several players to watch for this season in quarterback Chris Nelson (6-2, 220), running back Todd Neal (6-2, 195), and wide receiver Brandon Kiser (6-2, 180).

The defense is lead by Scout.com four-star linebacker C.J. Mosley (6-3, 220), defensive end Markeith Gaines (5-11, 228), and linebacker Carl Robinson (6-2, 210).

Mosley holds scholarship offers from all across the country, and not expected to make a decision until after the season.

"He's one of the better players in the state," Meredith said of Mosley. "They have ranked him pretty high. He's a good player. We expect him to play at the next level."

Theodore's signal caller for the 2009 season is already the talk of the class of 2011.

"He's just a junior," Meredith stated. "Some schools are showing interest and some schools are sending him letters. He attended Alabama's camp."
