ScoutSouth.com: Taylor Carney

Taylor Carney is a 6-3, 240-pound defensive end at Brooks High School in Killen, Ala., and he has been receiving interest from schools around the South for two years. The talented prospect has yet to receive an offer. That could change during the next few days.

Taylor Carney closed out his career at Brooks with a solid senior season. He finished the year with 52 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, and 12 sacks before the Lions lost a third round playoff game to the Deshler Tigers.

Carney is still hearing from four schools on a regular basis.

"I do not have an offer, but my coaches tell me they feel like Arkansas State and UNA are very close to offering. I felt like UNA was going to offer before Coach (Terry) Bowden was hired, but I haven't heard from them in a few days."

"My coaches have told me that Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State and UNA are the schools that are still talking to them about me, so I am still waiting to see what happens."

"I think all the schools are talking about playing me as a defensive end, but I don't care where I play as long as I get on the field."
