ALA All-Star: K.C. Orr

ScoutSouth.com caught up with K.C. Orr Sunday afternoon and he was kind enough to discuss his All-Star game experience with us, as well as the latest news concerning his recruitment.

"It was a great experience to get to play in the All-Star game," K.C. Orr told us from his home in Speake, (Ala.).

"I had a lot of fun, and I believe it helped me out a lot as far as my recruitment goes. I think it gave a lot of recruiters an opportunity to see me against the best competition in the state. Up until last week they had only saw me play against 1A schools, and 1A talent," Orr explained.

"I tried to do everything the coaches asked me to do in practice and during the game. I was learning a new position, at nose guard. It took me a little adjusting, but I think I did pretty well. I got a couple of good hits on the quarterback (Tyler Russell) during the game," Orr noted.

ScoutSouth.com asked if anyone impressed him during the week of practice in Mobile.

"Yes sir," he emphatically stated. "D.T. Shackelford went all-out every second of every play, every drill, and he did it all week long. He played full throttle, and he never let up all week long."

Orr has been busy with his team advancing to the 1A state championship game, before falling to an outstanding Sweetwater team.

"I am obviously a little disappointed we didn't win, but you can't take anything away from Sweetwater. They have a great team. I am also proud of our team for making to the state championship for the first time in school history. We had a good season," Orr said.

Orr does not have a scholarship offer at the moment, but he feels that will change after the week he experienced in Mobile.

"I have a lot of schools that are still recruiting me, and as I said, I think last week helped me from a recruiting standpoint.

"Arkansas State, UAB, South Alabama, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Samford, and UNA are all still talking to me. I really believe I will receive a couple of offers very soon, because a couple of those teams are recruiting me pretty hard," Orr said in closing.
