ScoutSouth.com: Huntsville vs. Hoover

Huntsville's Coach Kevin Wieseman

After making it to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1981 the Huntsville Panthers decided that wasn't enough. They stunned Hewitt-Trussville last week to advance to the next round of the Alabama Class 6A state playoffs.

ScoutSouth.com caught up with Coach Kevin Wieseman of the Huntsville Panthers, and he gave us his view of the upcoming semifinal match with the Hoover Bucs.

"We played our best game of the year last week," Coach Wieseman said from his Huntsville home.

"You just hope you are peaking at the right time when you get into the playoffs, and that our kids are not satisfied with where they are."

"When you look at Hoover on film it is easy to see they are very well coached, and they play hard. It is intriguing to watch the mental aspect of how they prepare for each game," Coach Wieseman stated.

"They are big, strong and fast. They spread you out, but they like to mix in some power running game to go along with their spread. They run multiple formations on offense."

"We will need to play our best and catch a few breaks to play them close."

"We are going to do the same things that got us here. We aren't going to change anything at this point of the season. Our team has been a unique one all season. We don't have a super-star or anything like that. We have had different kids step up each week to help us win a game," he said.

"Last week Eric Russell had over 100-yards receiving and two touchdowns, and C.J. Urban came off the bench and grabbed two interceptions for us. That has been our season all year long," Coach Wieseman said.
