Russellville's Calloway talks semifinal

Brent Calloway is a 6-2, 195-pound sophomore running back for the Russellville Golden Tigers, and he has already started hearing from a couple of big-time programs. Calloway discussed this week’s semifinal game with the Cullman Bearcats, as well as recruiting.

ScoutSouth.com caught up with Brent Calloway at his home in Russellville, (Ala.) earlier Wednesday, and he shared his thoughts about this week’s contest.

“We have to take care of the ball-no turn overs. We need to stay focused, play hard, and play our game. We can’t make mistakes against a good team like Cullman,” Calloway stated.

The sophomore sensation has played well enough this season to grab the attention of two SEC programs.

“My coach told me about a couple of teams that have asked about me. Alabama and Florida are the only teams I know of that have asked Coach Goodwin about me,” he said.

Calloway discussed his strengths and areas for improvement as he grows into the running back position.

“I think some of my strengths are my work ethic. I work hard in the weight room. I believe my size helps me out a lot in high school. I know I had a transition period when I started this season. It took me a while to get the hang of everything, and I’m still learning as I go,” Calloway said.

“As for the things I need to work on, well I need to improve my entire game. I need to work on staying lower when I run through defenders. I need to stay focused when I’m on the field, and I need to keep working hard to get stronger. As long as I work hard in the weight room I will get stronger," Calloway concluded
