Photo Gallery: 3A Cordova HS

Cordova High School is 4-1 in Class 3A Region 4 after a loss last week to 5A undefeated Hartselle (42-27). ScoutSouth.com presents a photo gallery from last Friday night's action featuring Tim Simon and 2010 athlete Ryan Smith.

This ended up being a better game than I expected. Cordova jumped out to an early lead, just to have Hartselle answer back and lead at the half 28-14. Hartselle was just a little to deep for Cordova and overall had more athletes.

Tim Simon showed his ability and his toughness by rushing for 140 yds. on 10 carries, 14 yards a carry against a 5A competitor is pretty impressive. He also played an integral part in Cordova defense with several tackles, and one of the biggest hits on an on side kick that helped Cordova jump start their offense at the start of the third quarter.

The fact that Simon plays both ways surely hurts his production. Imagine what he could do if he only played offense and could keep his legs much fresher.

Ryan Smith had a good game both rushing and passing. When he had time to throw, he looked poised in the pocket and made good choices when to run or not. Smith also added a rushing TD in the second half.

Both of the players also seem to possess good leadership skills. I noticed both of them talking to teammates when mistakes were made and intervening when tempers flared.
