"Recruiting is going well for me," Shawn Southward said from his home in Florence, (Ala.).
"I went to Tennessee's camp three weeks ago, and it went well up there. I did not participate in the camp, but I did individual workouts for some of the coaches. Coach [Phillip] Fulmer, coach [John] Chavis and coach [Stan] Drayton watched me during the individual drills."
"I talked to all three coaches afterward, and coach Fulmer was just telling me how they liked me, and that he wanted to see me during the early part of this season before making me an offer."
"I went to the Auburn camp, and I talked to coach [Don] Dunn, coach [Tommy] Tuberville, and a couple of the other coaches. They also want to evaluate me after a few games this fall."
"Coach Tuberville told me to stay focused and to keep doing what I'm doing, and everything would take care of itself."
"I liked it down at Auburn. The coaches were nice, and it is a nice place."
"I went down to Alabama Tuesday. I got to talk to coach [Curt] Cignetti, coach [Burton] Burns, and coach [Nick] Saban. Coach Saban was telling me they really liked the way I ran the ball, and he would really like for me to play at Alabama."
"He [coach Nick Saban] told me he would be keeping an eye on me this year. Alabama is like the others. They want to see me play this fall before offering me."
Shawn Southward doesn't claim a favorite team while growing up in North Alabama, and he doesn't have a time-frame for a decision.
"I don't know when I will make a decision, but either of the three SEC teams could help me end my recruitment by offering me a scholarship," Southward explained.
