Brandon Gottfried recovering from injury

Brandon Gottfried, wide receiver from Tuscaloosa-American Christian Academy, (Ala.), was having a very good camp at Ole Miss before suffering a severe injury to his collarbone and breastplate. He was having such a good camp he earned top performer in Oxford back in early June.

Brandon Gottfried was just starting to make his rounds in early summer, when he suffered a rare injury to his collarbone.

Gottfried went up for a ball thrown his way, and landed awkwardly on his shoulder. At first, the injury was diagnosed as a simple break.

"It separated my collarbone from the cartilage that holds it to my breastplate, and I broke my breastplate," Brandon Gottfried explained. "I went to the doctor today, and he said I should be 100 percent in about three weeks."

"I will probably be ‘no contact' the first week in pads, but I should be ready to go after the first week."

Gottfried only made one camp appearance, but the 2010 wide receiver prospect made quite the impression with Coach Houston Nutt.

"Coach Nutt has written me a few letters since the camp. He said he liked the way I played, and that they (Ole Miss) were very interested in me," Gottfried said.

"I really like Coach Nutt. He is a good person. My Dad coached at Murray State before he came to Alabama, and Coach Nutt was the football coach there at the same time. So he and Dad have known each other for a long time."

Gottfried will have plenty of time to impress college coaches, beginning with his junior season at ACA.

"I am just trying to get ready for our season. I am looking forward to having a good year," Gottfried concluded.
