Chase Hughes projects as an offensive guard at the next level and has attended camps as both an offensive lineman and a defensive lineman. Hughes discusses his camp experience with ScoutSouth.com.

As a prospect in the class of 2010 Chase Hughes has plenty of time to take in the recruiting process and several schools are already showing interest in the 6-2, 280 pound lineman.

“I hear from several schools," Hughes stated. “I have been to three camps this summer, and I hope to make it to one more.”

Hughes tells us about each camp:

Georgia: “I really enjoyed the camp at Georgia. I stayed for the entire camp, Sunday to Wednesday. I really liked Coach [Stacy] Searels and Coach [Rodney] Garner. They are the offensive and defensive line coaches."

Alabama: “This was the second year I have gone to camp at Alabama. I have made the ‘All-Saban Team’ two years in a row. The camp is a lot tougher than any of the others I’ve been to, but it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy it.”

“I think I have a pretty good relationship with Coach [Bo] Davis. He said they liked me, and I have good technique and feet. They want me to come back next year."

Hughes has been to Alabama camps as a defensive lineman the last two years.

Auburn: “Coach Price has been by school to see me and when I went to the Auburn camp. Coach [Tommy] Tuberville rode up on his golf cart and introduced himself and talked to me a little while."

“I really enjoyed myself at the Auburn camp. It went really well. We did a lot of one-on-one drills, and I picked up a lot of good information while I was there."

Hughes has also been to Auburn two years in a row, once as an offensive lineman, and once as a defensive lineman.

“I hope to make it to the Mississippi State lineman challenge a little later. I was supposed to go to the Elite Underclassmen camp in Atlanta this weekend, but our team camps at Birmingham Southern the same day.”

Hughes has started for Springville High School since the 8th grade. He discusses the upcoming season.

“We will be a more experienced team this season than we’ve been in the past two or three years,” Hughes said. “We have been very young the past couple of years, but most of our returning starters will be juniors and seniors this year."
