Leroy (Ala.) quarterback Clint Moseley had thoughts of visiting the University of Central Florida or another school until news of an invitation from Alabama to attend the Tide’s A-Day game. ScoutSouth.com caught up with the gunslinger just minutes before he took the mound Tuesday afternoon in the Washington County baseball tournament.

“I had a few places I was thinking about checking out,” Clint Moseley said. “But after coach [Burton] Burns called my coach [Danny Powell] and personally invited me to come to Alabama I made the decision Friday to go back [to Tuscaloosa]."

"That really made me want to go more, and it was definitely the right decision. I knew I would have a great time, and I did.”

Moseley, who made the trip with Leroy teammate Aerik Davis, said the coaches showed him attention as soon as he arrived.

“As soon as we got there and signed in, coach Burns came up and brought me to coach McElwain’s office," he explained. "We talked for a long time. I thought that was pretty cool."

"They told me they really want to see me throw in person. That it is very important that I get back to their camp because they really want to see me live. They said all the coaches are really interested in seeing me throw the ball.”

The 6-4, 194-pounder talked about the favorite part of the trip.

“It was meeting coach Burns," Moseley said. "This was the first time I had met him. He just took over recruiting in my area for Ron Middleton. We got along great."

“I also thought the crowd was awesome. I was expecting it to be packed out from last year, and even though it wasn’t quite as many people it was still like game day around the stadium.”

With one offer already on the table from UAB, Moseley said another one is on the horizon.

“I think Central Florida is about to offer," he said. "Coach [Geoff] Collins is recruiting me, and he was at Alabama. He said as soon as he gets my film and shows it to the other coaches I should be getting an offer from them. So that is pretty good. I would like to check them out."

“My favorites right now are Central Florida, Alabama and UAB. I would say they are my top three. I am getting letters from a lot of place like Mississippi State, Memphis and Duke."

Moseley is not only a star on the football field, but also the ace pitcher and top hitter on the top-ranked Leroy Bears' baseball squad. He is batting .532 with 42 RBIs and six home runs while posting a 7-1 mark on the mound with a 64 strikeouts.

“We have had a great year in baseball," he stated. "From a personal standpoint I have probably had my best year. We are 25-3. It is kind of hard to beat that. I have had pretty much all the local junior colleges calling to talk to my coach about me."

"I told my coach to let them know they are wasting their time. It is definitely going to be football for me. That is where my heart is.”

Moseley and Davis will head back to Alabama May 3rd for a summer clinic.
