Coach Keith Etheredge discusses the talented 6-4, 190-pound athlete (4.58), and Tony Threatt weighs in with the latest recruiting news. "Tony is a great player for us," coach Etheredge tells us from his home in Leeds, (Ala). "Tony loves contact, and he has great range. He will go get the ball as a wide receiver and as a safety. He has a very good work ethic, and he looks to improve everyday." Threatt had 67 tackles from his safety position, with four sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three tackles for a loss to round out his defensive stats all during his junior season. On the opposite side of the ball he also made stand out plays catching 24 balls for 304 yards and four touchdowns. ScoutSouth.com caught up with the talented playmaker as well. "Recruiting is just getting started good for me, but it's going real well," Threatt stated. "I went to Auburn for their A-Day scrimmage, and I liked it a lot. It was very interesting to say the least, and I can see myself going to Auburn if they offer me." "I got to talk to Coach Greg Knox for a little while, and he was asking me about my 40-time and how good my hands were. He invited me to come to their senior camp, and I plan to attend it." "I am also hearing from a lot of other schools, too. I am being recruited by Auburn, Marshall, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Tulane, and Alabama has shown interest in me as well." "I plan to go to several camps this summer. Coach Etheredge is helping me with that. We haven't made any final plans yet, but I will go to as many as I can make. I don't want to close the door on anyone, so I'm wide open to anyone that has an offer for me." Threatt isn't the only athlete in the family as his sister is already on scholarship at Auburn. "My sister [Danielle Threatt] is on the track team. She performs the long jump and the high jump. She does pretty well down there. We're proud of her," Threatt concluded. Threatt reports a 3.35 GPA and took the ACT for the first time Saturday, April 12th.
