Amos Draper, defensive end from Tanner, (Ala.), has caught the attention of recruiters from around the South It recently paid off with a scholarship offer from the Vanderbilt Commodores with several other schools taking notice as well.

"Vanderbilt offered me a scholarship on the telephone about two or three weeks ago," Amos Draper told us. "I haven't been up there yet, but I'm going to try to visit them next week."

"I went to Alabama's A-Day game Saturday, and I liked it a lot. The defense looked real good and I got to talk with coach Cignetti for a while. He basically told me they wanted to see me in camp this summer if it was possible."

"I went back to Mississippi State to watch practice, and it was good. I didn't talk to any of the coaches. I just wanted to see them again."

"UAB and Central Florida have just started recruiting me, and I'm still hearing from Tennessee."

Draper has an early favorite.

"I really like Alabama right now," he said. "I like everything about them. They are my early favorite with Vandy a close second."
