David Isabelle Ready for UAB

David Isabelle, quarterback from Huntsville-J.O. Johnson, (Ala.), finished his high school football career in the 5A state playoffs, where the Jags lost a close game to eventual state runner up, Briarwood Christian. Since that time Isabelle committed to the UAB Blazers and Coach Neil Calloway.

“I have been playing baseball and running track, but I have been doing UAB’s workout program for a couple of weeks now. Everything is going well, and I’m looking forward to getting down there with those guys,” David Isabelle said.

“I am going to the Green & Gold game April 16th. I’m interested in seeing how the team looks.”

Isabelle is particularly interested in how the returning quarterbacks look, as entering UAB recruited at that position.

“I think we have four quarterbacks returning this season,” Isabelle reports. “Two are coming back from injury, and Joe Webb will be returning. I hung out with Joe during my official visit, and he’s a good guy. I think he’ll be the starter this fall unless I can go in and really do well.”

Isabelle also discussed summer plans.

“I am going to report sometime in June and take some summer classes to get a jump start on school. I think it will help me this fall while I’m trying to get adjusted to college life,” he stated.

During Isabelle's senior season he completed 139 passes of 206 attempts for 2,181 yards and 15 touchdowns. He ran the ball 114 times for 826 yards and seven touchdowns.

Isabelle first garnered attention during his junior season when he completed 129 of 210 passes for 1,834 yards, and a 61-percent completion ratio with 14 touchdowns. He also rushed for 774 yards on 86 attempts.
