Cullman, (Ala.) talented running back, Mike Timmons, tore up the sod in every stadium he played in during the 2007 season. He ran up huge stats and caught the eye of several colleges around the country.
Timmons committed to Arkansas State, but after visiting the campus he knew something wasn't right.
"I liked the coaches at Arkansas State," Timmons explained. "I was all set to go out there, but when I took my official visit it just didn't feel right."
Timmons took his visit late in the process after committing to Arkansas State, which slowed his recruitment by other schools. However, two in-state schools have shown interest in Timmons' services as a running back.
"I am going to Troy this weekend to check out the campus and talk with the coaches," he said. "Auburn has also been talking with me some, so I am going to see what happens with that."
"I think Troy might offer if they have a slot come open, but I'm not sure about Auburn right now."
Timmons rushed for 2,001 yards and 28 touchdowns during his senior season. He was selected ASWA All-State first team along with All-Area by the Cullman Times.
