Van Phillips told Scout.com he has committed to the Grambling Tigers after an official visit to check out the program in Louisiana.
The 6-2.5, 200-pounder is a three-year starter in football, a three-year starter in basketball, a two-year starter in baseball and also runs the sprints for the Shades Valley High track team.
Phillips has received recruiting attention from from Division I programs such as Memphis, Minnesota, Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State and Southern Miss along with others such as Grambling, Mississippi Valley State and Tuskegee.
A teammate of Auburn verbal commitment Cameron Henderson, Phillips is an honor student who reports a best time of 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, a bench press of 315 pounds and a best vertical jump of 38 inches.
