The Next David Palmer?

The Next David Palmer?

Scout.com four-star athlete and Alabama verbal Burton Scott had a busy week impressing teammates and recruiting experts while preparing for the Under Armour All-Star game in Orlando. The 5-10.5, 192-pound standout's success does not come as a surprise to someone who has watched Scott develop over the last four years.

"Burton has what you would call God-given talent," Vigor offensive coordinator Lev Holly said. "But what makes him great is his work habits. The game is easy for him because he practices 10 times harder than he has to in a game."

Scott is a gifted athlete who has seen playing time at running back, wide receiver, cornerback, quarterback, punter and kick returner during his time with Vigor.

"I think he will be a star no matter which position he plays. But he is an All-American shut down corner. He is very aggressive, has great speed and a great vertical. I think he will big play guy on offense also. He is the next David Palmer. Burton made me a good offensive coordinator," Holly said.

A lot of times when a high school player has the talent of a Burton Scott, they sometimes develop an ego that gets them in trouble. That is not the case with Scott.

"He is a natural leader-a very humble kid. He is very respectful and a tireless worker whether it is on the football field, the baseball field or away from school. He has endured some tough storms in his life, but you would never know it. He is a role-model to my eight-year-old," Holly said.

Scott broke a pipeline that has seen past Mobile stars venture to the Plains and sign with Auburn or the LSU Tigers. Holly said the reason for the change is simple.

"Coach Saban and the Alabama staff are 'go-getter's'. Saban is the main reason because he instantly brings credibility. He is proven and a great guy. He is business-oriented and has a great mindset. He always has a message."

"Alabama is going to accomplish big things with this staff. Lance Thompson is also a down to earth guy that is a hard worker. It is a great staff," said the Wolves' OC.
