ScoutSouth.com: The 24 Teams Still Standing
Of the 24 teams in the finals there are 21 number one seeds and three number two seeds. The second seeds are only in that position because the team that beat them in the regular season is one of the top seeds left in the final four in each region.
Sweet Water (12-0) continues on their way to a repeat championship easily dispensing of Wadley (11-2) 39-7.
Maplesville (12-0) took care of their opposition, Linden (10-2) to set up a match up that many wanted to see when the Red Devils travel to Sweet Water next week.

Talladega County Central (13-0) broke the hearts of Coach Goode's Hazlewood (12-1) team in a 21-20 victory.
Sulligent (12-1) has not stumbled since they played 3A Winfield to open the season. Coach Bowling's team defeated the Cinderella team Shoals Christian (8-5) 52-22. The Blue Devils will travel to TCC next week.

American Christian (11-2) will host the first of two Tuscaloosa area semi-final games Friday night as they defeated Cottonwood 35-6 (12-1).
Leroy (12-1) defeated Lanett (12-1) 18-12 in overtime and will travel to take on American Christian. Quarterback Clint Moseley appeared to injure a knee in the game, so this week will be telling for the Bears.

Red Bay (13-0) is part of a Northern semi-final that will boast a 26-0 record. They defeated Piedmont (10-3) 31-23.
Fyffe (13-0) had little trouble dispensing with J.B. Pennington (9-4) 48-7 and will take the westward trip to Red Bay on Friday.

Cordova (13-0) defeated defending 3A champion Pike County (12-1) and that in itself was not a big surprise, but the shocking 24-0 score.
Calera (12-1) hosted Clarke County (12-1) and after Clarke County flirted with defeat against Winfield last week, they did suffer their first defeat to Coach Mac Thompson's Eagles 20-7.
Cordova vs. Calera
Colbert County (12-1) managed to stop region 5 from filling both semi-final spots in the North region by defeating Leeds 31-13. The Indians stay at home next week after their road trip.
Clay County (13-0) racked up 552 yards last week with a 56-point scoring difference in their win over Colbert Heights. This week they showed just how tough Region 5 is by defeating fellow district member Lincoln (9-4) at home 28-13.
Clay County vs. Colbert County
Central Tuscaloosa (13-0) looks like they cannot be stopped. With a win over a highly regarded Andalusia (11-2) squad 47-7 at home, this sets up as a rematch of last year's opening round playoffs against Thomasville. The Falcons lost in overtime after missing a two-point conversion that would have given them a one-point victory. Coach Pete's kids stay at home again next week and this is the second playoff game in the Tuscaloosa area.
Thomasville (11-2) hosted Handley (11-2) who had not tasted defeat since the first week of play and showed the Falcons they may need to work harder for the next win. The Tigers won 49-12.
Thomasville vs. Central Tuscaloosa
What is better than a rivalry game part two? Deshler (11-2) defeated Madison County (12-1) 47-28 and sets up a second game with Brooks. Deshler defeated Brooks 41-26 in the second week of the season. This time the Tigers will host.
Brooks (12-1) defeated Deshler last season, and this year the Tigers were set on defeating their rival and did so. Brooks fought to get this rematch by defeating reigning state champs Guntersville (9-4) 41-38. Did they leave anything in the tank?
Brooks vs. Deshler
St. Paul's (12-1) has lost but one game this season and vindication is on their minds next week when they get a rematch. The Saints handed Troy's Charles Henderson (12-1) their first defeat 49-11 and will set sail for Williamson.
Williamson (10-3) allowed only seven points in their first two playoff wins and faced an underrated UMS-Wright (6-6) squad who will return to 4A next season. The Lions won 38-21.
St. Paul's vs. Williamson
Coach Mark Britton's Cullman (13-0) Bearcats faced a tough Decatur (11-2) team and came away with the win in a hard fought 42-32 victory. They will return home for next week's game.
Briarwood Christian (13-0) and Auburn committed quarterback Barrett Trotter continued on their quest for a title with a win over J.O. Johnson (11-2) 35-20 in what was a very competitive game.
Briarwood Christian vs. Cullman
Prattville (13-0) showed they are serious about repeating their 2006 championship with a 38-14 win over Foley (12-1). They will host the semi-final game.
McGill-Toolen (13-0) has been dominant this year up until the last two games when they faced two outstanding teams in Wetumpka, and then this week in Daphne (11-2). The Yellow Jackets won the match up 16-10. It will be interesting to see how this defense fares against Prattville, and if Coach Keith Powell can take his team to the state championship game in his first season as their head coach.
McGill-Toolen vs. Prattville
Vestavia Hills (12-1) has done it. They have turned pit the lights on Hoover (6-6) 21-17. Coach Buddy Anderson defeats Coach Rush Propst in his final game at the Bucs' helm, which seems fitting with all the water under the bridge. The Rebels will take their spot in the semi-finals representing one-half of the Region 6 showcase. Running back Justin Rogers rushed for 260 yards in this game against Hoover.
Spain Park (12-1) stopped what could have been a fairy tale ending for the Rising Phoenix Quarterback Morgan Ogilvie and his Spartan teammates 17-14. The Spartans have much to be proud of after starting the season with two wins and four losses, they turned that around winning six straight.
Spain Park will travel to Vestavia via a loss to the Rebels 21-0 earlier this season. That loss followed an emotional defeat by Hoover which was later reversed due to forfeit. This team has hit their stride and should give Vestavia a better test this week.
