The teams whittled down after Round 2 to advance to the 3rd Round of the AHSAA state play-offs. ScoutSouth.com presents the teams moving to next round and match-ups.


Class 1A:

South:
Sweet Water defeated St. Jude 52-12
Wadley defeated Brantley 21-20 on a missed two point conversion to end the game.
Wadley (11-1) will travel to Sweet Water (11-0)

Linden dispensed with Millry 43-6
Maplesville defeated Florala 54-30
Maplesville (11-0) will travel to Linden (10-1)

North
Hazlewood easily handled Gaston 42-14.
Talladega County Central outpaced Cedar Bluff 39-19.
Talladega County Central (12-0) will travel to Hazelwood (12-0) for a battle of undefeateds.

Sulligent won a battle with Speake 33-25.
Shoals Christian continued to surprise with an upset of Valley Head 28-24.
Sulligent (11-1) will travel to Shoals Christian (7-5)

Class 2A

South
American Christian defeated Highland Home in a close match-up 36-30.
Cottonwood won a squeaker 20-19 over Georgiana.
Cottonwood (12-0) will travel to American Christian (10-2) both as top seeds.

Leroy defeated Pickens County 52-26.
Lanett handled a tough luck Wicksburg 47-19
Lanett (12-0) will travel to the reigning state champs home, Leroy (11-1).

North Red Bay handled Sand Rock 26-7.
Piedmont defeated Woodland 37-13.
Piedmont (10-2) will travel to Red Bay (12-0).

J.B. Pennington won over Addison 28-11.
Fyffe traveled to Tanner and got the victory 35-14.
J.B. Pennington (8-3) will have the task of a long trip and taking on undefeated Red Bay (12-0).

Class 3A

South
Cordova kept their record perfect by defeating Sumter County 51-28.
State Champs, Pike County defeated Marbury 28-6.
Pike County (12-0) will take the long haul trip to take on Cordova (12-0) in a battle of undefeateds.

Clarke County needed overtime to defeat Winfield 19-16.
Calera shut out Gordo on the road 13-0.
Clarke County (12-0) will travel to Calera (11-1) for the third round.

North Colbert County advanced with a win over Hokes Bluf 40-17.
Leeds won after Plainview missed a field goal to end the game 34-31.
Colbert County (11-1) will travel to Leeds (8-4).

Clay County extended their winning streak with the whipping of Colbert Heights 70-14 Lincoln continued their dream-like run by defeating Sardis 34-7.
Lincoln (9-3) may wake up from the dream when they get to Clay County (12-0) next week.
