Alabama four-star commitment Burton Scott came up big for his Vigor Wolves Friday night at Demopolis Memorial Stadium. Vigor defeated the Demopolis Tigers 28-8 in the first round of the 5A State Playoffs.

Burton Scott started the game with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Shantrell Braxton answered for the Tigers with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. After a penalty by Vigor, Demopolis punched in a two-point conversion that put them up 8-7.

Scott regained the lead for the Wolves in the second quarter with a 23-yard touchdown scamper. The two-point conversion failed. That put the Wolves up 14-8.

Vigor’s Kendall Houston ran it in for a 19-yard touchdown about midway through the second quarter. Scott hit Jeremy Lewis for a two-point conversion to put Vigor up 22-8. With 33 seconds to go in the half, Scott hit freshman Marvin Shinn in the endzone. That would do it for the scoring for both teams.

Scott finished the night with 118 rushing yards and 79 through the air. Vigor will host Charles Henderson next week in the second round.
