ScoutSouth.com is proud to announce Tuscaloosa County's Robert Higginbotham as our coach of the week. Higginbotham won his 261st game with stops at Mountain Brook and Shades Valley before landing at Tuscaloosa County.
The win over Opelika last Thursday night showed Coach Higginbotham and his staff did a masterful job of preparing the Wildcat team, especially his junior quarterback,
Brett Booth
, who played a fearless confident game.
The Wildcats were facing the heralded 'Dawgs defense that averaged giving up only five points per game. County High won the game 35-21 and sealed up a 10-0 regular season and a No.1 seed in the state playoffs. This undefeated season is only the fourth perfect regular season in Wildcat History.
Higginbotham is working on year No.34 in his coaching career. He is a member of the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame following in the footsteps of his Hall of Fame father, Morris.
Coach Higginbotham has coached such standouts as Major Ogilvie (Mountain Brook),
Saleem Rasheed
(Shades Valley), LeRon McClain,
Terrence Jones
and
John Michael Boswell
(Tuscaloosa County).
He is a graduate of Hueytown High School where he was an all-around athlete lettering in basketball, baseball and football. He also played football for the University of Alabama again attaining letterman status.
Tuscaloosa County will host Pell City Friday night in the first round of the playoffs.
