Cullman WR Hears from Several

Gavin Ellis is a wide receiver at one of 5A's top teams this season, the Cullman Bearcats. Ellis is having an outstanding season with 34 receptions for 603 yards and 11 touchdowns. Ellis is 6-6.5, 220 pounds and runs a 4.65 40-yard dash. He tells ScoutSouth.com the latest news.

"We've been having a good season," Gavin Ellis said from his home in Cullman, (Ala). "We play Gardendale this week. They're supposed to have a defensive back that's really good. He is supposedly going to play me man-coverage, which I'm looking forward to. I haven't seen much man-coverage this season."

"Most of the coverages I've seen this year have been zone, or man with a safety doubling me."

The talented senior has just started receiving interest from several schools around the South.

"I am getting interest from Troy, Mississippi State, Arkansas State and Memphis," Ellis explained.

Troy: "I have probably been getting more interest from Troy than anyone else at this point. I like Troy pretty well, and my grandparents live about 20 minutes from Troy."

MSU: "Some guy from MSU come up and talked to me after one of our games a couple weeks ago. He said I would be hearing from MSU soon, but I haven't heard from them, yet."

Arkansas State: "Arkansas State came down last Monday and talked to me, and then they came back and watched me play last Friday. They said they were interested in me, and they would be back in touch with me soon."

Memphis: "Memphis just started recruiting me. They called my coach today and wanted highlight film and said they would be interested in seeing me play."

"I really don't know what's going to happen, but I think recruiting has just started for me," Ellis admitted. "I like Troy, and I'm interested in all the schools that are interested in me. I guess I'll see what happens over the next few weeks."
