Cody Gross won the state championship as the offensive coordinator at 5A Athens in 2006. Gross took the Colbert County (3A) team when Steve Mask departed. The 2006 team went 8-2 in the regular season and won two more games in the championship play-offs.

Coach of the Week: Coach Cody Gross, Colbert County

The northwest Alabama school is 4-1 in 2007 and undefeated in region play. Coach Gross led the Indians last week against fifth ranked 4A Deshler (3-2) and stunned the Tigers 27-24.

Gross was a talented quarterback at UNA.

Colbert County takes on Clements (1-4) this week in region play.
