Recap Ft. Payne vs. Albertville
Albertville, led by Dustin Duckett's six receptions for 122 and one TD, provided enough offense to keep the game exciting, but never in doubt.
Fort Payne's junior QB Slade Smith had a outstanding game, going 13-14 for 202 yards. He also added one rushing TD and solidified his status as one of the top ranked quarterbacks for the class of 2009.
If any football fan wants to watch the most balanced passing/rushing attack in 5A, they need to watch Fort Payne. Fort Payne's Antwon Appleton, Nick Johnson and Chris McElrath give Fort Payne speed in the running game. Slade Smith is very accurate throwing the ball with many receivers who all can catch.
Albertville's Dustin Duckett should have an opportunity to play college football. His TD reception late in the game.and run after the catch, was as good of effort as you will ever see.
Fort Payne is an outstanding team with outstanding team speed. It will take a great football team to beat them. Albertville should not be overlooked by any team on their schedule. Their single wing offense is strange to watch, but very productive.
