A List of Five

A List of Five

Mark Barron, a Scout.com three-star wide receiver from Mobile-St. Paul's, (Ala.), is one of the most sought after prospects in the South. He has trimmed his list to five schools and will make his college decision before his senior season. Barron updates Scout.com with the latest...

"I really haven't been anywhere," Mark Barron said from Mobile, (Ala.). "I think we are going to some 7-on-7 camps. I think we are suppose to go to Alabama's 7-on-7 camp this weekend."

"As far as individual camps I am not sure if I am going to any. I know I'll try to take a few visits."

The elite prospect holds over 20 scholarship offers including the in-state schools Alabama and Auburn, and major offers such as Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Miami, South Carolina and Tennessee.

"I have a top five," Barron stated. "They are Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida and Florida State. All of the schools are pretty much equal. I really don't have a favorite. I plan to make my decision by the end of the summer."

Barron tells us a little of what he likes of each of the favorites.

Alabama: "Alabama has the best facilities out of all the places I have visited. I like the coaching staff up there as well. Ivan [Matchett] is committed, and that's a big thing as well."

Auburn: "I just like Auburn for some reason. I don't have a specific reason. I have only been there one time."

LSU: "I have always liked LSU. Chevis Jackson went there."

Florida: "They won the championship. I haven't ever been down there. I have talked to a couple coaches, and I like them."

Florida State: "I like coach Jimbo [Fisher]. That's really the only reason."

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete is capable of playing several positions on the next level, and he talks of the schools seeking his talent.

"I really don't have a preference as to where I play. Most of the schools are recruiting me as an athlete. The only school who recruited me strictly as a receiver is Tennessee. Auburn and Vanderbilt want me as a running back," he said.

"Florida State is recruiting me as an H-Back. The rest of the schools said they were just recruiting me as an athlete. It really doesn't bother me where I play."
