Miami Verbal Updates his Status

ScoutSouth.com caught up with four-star defensive back, Phelon Jones, after his team was eliminated from the 6A play-offs by second ranked Prattville 38-7. McGill-Toolen finished the season 11-2.

"We started out real good, making plays and came back with a late drive going into half-time. After halftime, they just made the adjustments to come out and do what they had to do," Phelon Jones said from Mobile, (Ala.).

Phelon Jones committed to Miami back in April, but a lot has changed since then. The Hurricanes fired head coach Larry Coker after a dismal 6-6 season. Jones was asked his thoughts of the situation, and if the Canes are still his leader.

"Yes, I'm still committed," he said. "It is a soft verbal, but I am also looking around at other schools too."

Jones said he hasn't set up any official visits, but he is also looking at LSU, Auburn, Florida and Virginia Tech.
