"I went to Southern Miss July 15, and I went to UAB on Saturday," said Kenneth Dorsey from Homewood, (Ala.). "I still have not received any offers. Alabama has said they want to see my ACT score before they talk about offering."
"The main schools showing interest in me are Southern Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, Middle Tennessee and Jackson State. Southern Miss is showing the most interest. It had been Arkansas, but since the camp Southern Miss is sending me a lot of mail."
Dorsey talks about his camp performance at UAB.
"UAB went great," he said. "The linebacker coach [Ron McCrone] seemed like he liked me a lot. I did good in the drills."
"It was real nice. I met a lot of new people. I like UAB. It's a cool place. I never had them on the radar, but after I went there I have started to like it. It's a nice school."
The Golden Eagles were impressed and may extend the first scholarship offer.
"The Southern Miss camp went great," Dorsey said. "I thought I did really good in the drills. I talked to a bunch of coaches. I like Southern Miss. They started to send me a lot of letters. It was nice to be down there."
When asked favorites Dorsey replied, "My overall favorite is Alabama. I really want to go to Alabama. I like their campus. I like their athletic facilities. The coaches are real cool as well."
"LSU is another school I like. I went down to their camp last summer. I went around the campus. The coaches were real nice to me."
The Homewood Patriots will play in the toughest region in the state in 2006 as they move to Class 6A. The defending 5A state champions will face opponents such as Hoover, Mountain Brook, Oak Mountain and Spain Park.
Dorsey is ready for the competition and stated, "We begin practice August 7. I am really looking forward to the season. I am looking forward to playing Hoover. We play them week eight."
