Mountain Brook OL Makes Decision

Mountain Brook offensive lineman William Vlachos was extremely impressive at the Scout.com All-American combine in Tuscaloosa April 29. He received great reviews from the high school coaches working the Alabama senior camp Saturday and following his performance he made his college decision.

"I went ahead and committed to Alabama yesterday," said William Vlachos from Birmingham, (Ala.). "I accepted the greyshirt offer. I actually received a written offer in the mail last week."

"Right now it's still a greyshirt offer but, coach [Bob] Connelly is working on trying to make it an offical offer so I can come in next fall. They recruited me to play center."

"I went to LSU last weekend. I had a week to think about my decison. I felt real good about Alabama."

"I felt real comfortable with the coaching staff. I talked to coach [Mike] Shula for a while after camp yesterday. He spoke to my mom as well. We all felt like it was the best decision for me."

The Crimson Tide has a solid commitment in the Mountain Brook standout.

"I am finished with my recruitment," Vlachos said. "I am committed to Alabama."

Vlachos becomes Alabama's first in-state high school commitment for the 2007 class.
