Staples Has Plenty Of Options

Jamari Staples has plenty of options and is going to be very busy when January rolls around. The talented WR/S from Ashland, Alabama talked with GoldenEaglePride.com about his recruitment. Is Southern Miss still in the mix?

Jamari Staples is a talented wide receiver and safety who was being pursued by Southern Miss with the former staff. We caught up with the senior from Ashland, Alabama this afternoon.

"Right now I'm playing basketball and just trying to stay active," he updated GoldenEaglePride.com.

"I'm trying to decided where I am going to be spending the next four years of my life too."

He is certainly not short on options. Right now, Staples has offers from Western Kentucky, Toledo, MTSU, and UAB. He also said he's hearing from Cincinatti, Kentucky, and South Florida as well.

With Coach Johnson's staff pursuing him several months ago, is there still any interest in Southern Miss after the change?

"Oh yes sir, I'm very interested in Southern Miss," he said. "I got a call from someone on the new staff but I haven't been able to get back up with them.

"I'm going to try again after New Year's Day to see if I can set up a visit. I haven't been offered there but the old staff told me they liked me. I like their program so I'd like to meet the new staff."

Staples said he's looking for a school that he can call home.

"Tradition, character, and a place where I can be happy and at home are all important to me," he informed me when talking about what he would like in a school.

"I'm just going to work on getting bigger and faster, and letting all the pieces fall into place."

Staples has visits set to Western Kentucky, Toledo, and UAB in January. He said he'd also like to take a visit to Southern Miss as well if he can work it out.
