Edo makes his choice

Soma Edo

The pick is in for Texas native Soma Edo, and he is headed to the West Coast.

There aren't five better athletes in the entire class of 2013 than Soma Edo. The 6-foot-5 power forward from Richardson (Tex.) Berkner decided to end his recruitment late on Wednesday evening when he selected Fresno State.

At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Edo looks like he would be just as comfortable playing tight end on the football field as he does playing power forward in basketball. With his elite athleticism he is a factor on the glass and finishes as well as any player in the entire nation.

In the end Edo considered TCU, North Texas, and Santa Clara along with the Bulldogs. Still it was Fresno State that won out.

Being a bit of an undersized power forward, Edo knew it was important for him to pick the right level of school.

"Just the conference level and how they develop people from that league, and how many people my size have developed at that level, that was huge," said Edo.

Also the work put in by Head Coach Rodney Terry tipped the scales in favor of the Bulldogs.

"Head Coach Rodney Terry and I have a good relationship," noted Edo. "He calls me like four times a week and we talk about life stuff, not just basketball. I think they will treat me like family."

Edo hopes to contribute right away and challenge fear significant early playing time.
