The middle classifications in Alabama played some tight games this week to kick off the second half of the season. Here are some of the top performances.

Corey Gochett
5-10, 175 pounds

Abbeville High School

Gochett passed for 239 yards completing 12-of-19 passing attempts, three of which went for touchdowns in the 42-21 win over Dale County. The scores were on passes of 76, 70 and 27 yards.

Tommy Bothwell
5-11, 170 pounds
Junior Wide Receiver
Ashville High School

Bothwell caught four passes of 46 yards and three punt returns for 63 yards. He rushed for 157 yards scoring two touchdowns of 86 and 30 yards in the 39-14 win over J.B. Pennington.

Cody Staten

Cordova High School

Staten hit the 1,000 yard rushing mark with his 119 yards in the 42-14 win over Hanceville. He carried the ball eight times and scored twice on runs of 3 and 16 yards. The All-State quarterback (Howton) completed all six of his pass attempts for 134 yards scoring on a long pass play to Harris. He also rushed for 67 yards scoring twice. Howton has scholarship offers from Memphis, Southern Miss, Stanford, and South Alabama among others.

Harris caught an 85-yard touchdown pass and made an interception in the victory. Harris also has several scholarship offers including Mississippi State, Memphis, Southern Miss and South Alabama.

Brandon Burks
5-9, 175 pounds

Daleville High School

Burks rushed for 201 yards scoring three touchdowns in the 35-7 win over Geneva. He also caught a 90-yard touchdown pass.

The Auburn commitment caught two passes for 100 yards including a 58-yard touchdown in his team's 62-7 win over Coosa Christian. He returned a 60-yard punt and a 90-yard kick for touchdowns in the win.

Jerelle Bailey
5-9, 150 pounds

Pike County High School

Bailey completed 20-of-28 pass attempts for 196 yards and rushed for 116 yards on 21 carries. The senior scored five touchdowns and a two-point conversion in the 36-28 win in overtime over Opp.

Ryan McBrayer
5-10, 160 pounds

Plainview High School

McBrayer rushed for 280 yards on 18 carries scoring three touchdowns of 65, 60 and 18 yards in the 34-27 win over Sardis.

Toby Pee
5-11, 180 pounds
Sophomore Running Back
Sardis High School

The sophomore rushed for 180 yards on 27 carries with a five-yard scoring run. He also caught a six-yard touchdown pass and returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown in the 34-27 loss to Plainview.

Bell rushed for 113 yards on 13 carries scoring two touchdowns of 5 and 72 yards in the 42-28 win over Montevallo. Tidmore rushed for 129 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown of 59 yards in the win. Childers made 12 tackles in the win.

Parker rushed for 207 yards on 19 carries scoring three touchdowns of 14, 2, and 12 yards in the 34-21 win over Bayside Academy. Holcombe made two sacks and recorded an interception defensively to go along with his 3-yard touchdown run on offense.

Demetrus Warren
6-1, 210 pounds

Warren rushed for 173 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in the 34-20 win over Danville.

King racked up 286 all-purpose yards in the 20-14 win over Hillcrest-Evergreen. The senior caught two passes for 161 yards both for touchdowns of 81 and 80 yards. He also rushed for 125 yards on 20 carries. Sims made nine tackles in the win while Townsend made eight tackles.

Tribble completed 11-of-17 pass attempts for 183 yards and three touchdowns including a 57-yard pass in the 42-7 win over Priceville. The senior also rushed for an 8-yard touchdown pass. Lewter rushed for 124 yards on 12 carries scoring two touchdowns of 57 and 26 yards in the win.

Teague made 16 tackles with one for a loss of yards in the 12-10 loss to Dora. The junior also recovered a fumble.

Brewer rushed for 112 yards on 11 carries scoring two touchdowns of 30 and 21 yards in the 35-24 win over Douglas. Perkins rushed for 141 yards on 17 carries scoring twice on 2 and 4 yard runs.

Truman Franklin
6-4, 195 pounds

Franklin completed 14-of-17 pass attempts for 361 yards scoring on throws of 44, 89, 6, and 52 yards. The junior rushed for a 14-yard touchdown in the 41-20 win over Childersburg.

Headland High School

Williams had 255 all-purpose yards in the 43-40 win over St. James in overtime. The senior had 201 yards passing and 54 yards on the ground. He scored twice in the win.

C.J. Duncan
5-9, 160 pounds

St. James High School

Duncan rushed for 128 yards on 24 carries scoring twice in the 43-40 overtime loss. The sophomore completed 8-of-17 pass attempts for 210 yards scoring three more times.

Bowe rushed for 156 yards on 22 carries scoring two touchdowns. He also caught a three-yard touchdown pass in the 42-24 win over B.C. Rain.

Sarmeinto-Torres kicked the game-winning field goal of 32 yards to win the game over Midfield 10-7. Harris made 11 tackles in the win.

Gilmore rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries. He also hauled in 50 yards receiving in the loss to Tarrant.

Chris Dukes
5-9, 185 pounds

UMS-Wright School

Dukes ran for 332 yards last week and this week he ran up 265 yards on 15 carries scoring three touchdowns of 10, 25 and 33 yards in his team's 42-0 win over Saraland.
