The region races heat up, and many teams have surprised thanks to great play from the Stars of Alabama.

Collin Langley

Boaz High School

Langley rushed for 172 yards on 38 carries scoring on runs of 24 and 2 yards. He also caught two passes for 38 yards in the 26-17 win over Scottsboro. Langley had 108 yards in kick returns including a 44-yard gain.

Fort Payne High school

Fort Payne is marching confidently to the mid-way point of the season winning with ease. Crabtree had another impressive night completing 16-of-27 pass attempts for 315 yards and five touchdowns of 15, 19, 49, 49 and 80 yards. He also scored on the ground with a 14-yard run in the 42-14 win over Southside Gadsden.

Stewart rushed for 177 yards on 30 carries scoring a touchdown in the important region win over McAdory 36-21. Winston completed nine-of-11 passes for 141 yards and rushed for 109 yards including a 59-yard score.

Pough completed 30-of-40 pass attempts for 382 yards and four touchdowns in his team's 42-35 win over St. Paul's. He rushed for a fifth touchdown in his team's upset win.

Mortimer Jordan High School

Washington picked off three passes in the 34-27 win over Brewer. He ran two back for touchdowns. The senior also accounted for eight tackles, two pass breakups and a blocked point-after try.

Crooks rushed for 129 yards on only four carries in his team's 35-7 win over Brookwood. He scored two touchdowns on runs of 61 and 37 yards.

Harris completed 18-of-28 pass attempts for 205 yards and two touchdowns of 5 and 24 yards in the 35-16 win over Erwin. Gray rushed for 163 yards on 27 carries scoring a one-yard touchdown run. Mendoza made 13 tackles with one for a loss of yards. Rogers had an interception, four pass breakups and six tackles in the win.

Wheeler completed 16-of-25 passing attempts for 189 yards and a 25-yard touchdown pass in the dominating 21-0 win over Fairfield.

The University of Alabama commitment rushed for 194 yards on 22 carries scoring touchdowns of 41, 15, and 9 yards in the 35-14 win over East Limestone.

Ameriol Finley
6-0, 185 pounds

Spanish Fort High School

After sitting out the first three games due to eligibility conditions from his transfer, Finley came out with guns blazing. He rushed for 223 yards on 14 carries scoring five touchdowns of 28, 10, 27, 40 and 74 yards in a 48-21 win over Mary Montgomery. He completed seven-of-10 pass attempts for 97 yards. Finley is a commitment to South Alabama.

DeMorris Bledsoe
6-1, 210 pounds

Sylacauga High School

Bledsoe just keeps putting up impressive performances each week and has already hit the 800-yard mark for the season. He rushed for 221 yards in 16 carries with touchdowns of 50, 53, 70 and 5 yards in just two quarters in the 52-13 win over Moody. Coach Matt Griffith says of Bledsoe, "Great yards after contact, breakaway speed."

Trey Cochran-Gill
5-11, 175 pounds

Tallassee High School

Cochran-Gill completed 16-of-27 pass attempts for 225 yards and three touchdowns in the 40-10 win over Rehobeth. He also returned a fumble for a 64-yard touchdown on defense.

Erique Florence
6-2, 185 pounds

Valley High School

Valley put on a Tour de Force with their 40-0 win over Charles Henderson. Florence rushed for 218 yards on 19 carries scoring two touchdowns and completed seven-of-12 pass attempts for 88 yards and another score.

Mason Drummond
6-1, 195 pounds

Walker High School

Walker played two teeth-rattling opponents with Cullman and Hartselle back-to-back. While they came away with the win over Cullman they came up just short in the 10-7 loss to Hartselle. Drummond had another lights-out game with 14 tackles and forced a fumble. The senior already has 56 tackles in four games.

6-0, 175 pounds

Woodlawn High School

Woodlawn suffered a tough 14-12 loss to Wenonah, but that doesn't dim McKinzy's performance. He made 12 tackles and recovered a fumble with less than a minute remaining to give his team's offense one last try for the win.

Freeman completed 12-of-13 passing attempts for 208 yards and three touchdowns of 7, 19 and 2 yards. He also rushed for a score in the 42-2 win over Grissom.

Rashad Cunningham
6-4, 205 pounds

Davidson High School

Davidson kept their perfect record in-tact, and Cunningham had seven catches for 88 yards and a touchdown in the hard fought 16-12 win over Blount. Cunningham is a commitmrnt to the University of Kentucky.

Thompson rushed for 227 yards on 18 carries scoring on runs of 37 and 70 yards in the 23-20 loss to Huntsville.

Foley took it to the Yellow Jackets in a 35-7 victory. Powell completed eight-of-14 passes for 77 yards and a nine-yard touchdown. He rushed for 142 yards on 19 carries scoring four touchdowns of 1,5,6, and 23 yards. Koen rushed for 137 yards on 23 carries in the win.

Willis caught six passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns of 42 and 60 yards in the 28-21 win over Minor.

Denman completed 17-of-27 pass attempts for 194 yards and three touchdowns of 28, 56 and 13 yards in the 35-24 win over Sparkman.

Carlton picked off two passes and returned both for touchdowns in the 50-0 win over Thompson.

Aldag completed 14-of-18 pass attempts for 236 yards and scored on touchdown passes of 29 and 34 yards in the 49-21 win over Homewood. Rector rushed for 127 yards on nine carries and scored three touchdowns of 5, 2, and 80 yards in the big region win.

Salem once again hits our Stars list with 140 yards rushing on nine carries. The junior ran for two touchdowns of 48 and 63 yards. He also returned a kick for a 93-yard touchdown in the 38-23 win over Pelham.

Cato completed 16-of-22 pass attempts for 226 yards and touchdowns of 20 and 22 yards in the fourth quarter. The Panthers comeback was too late as Vestavia won the game 38-23. Harris rushed for 160 yards on 18 carries with an 88-yard touchdown in the loss.

Willis accounted for all of Satsuma's points in the 9-7 win over Robertsdale.

Nick Mullens

Mullens completed 18-of-29 pass attempts for 221 yards which is amazing when you conside his protection was somewhat patchy at best. The sophomore was hit with six sacks in the 21-7 win over Oak Mountain.

Wetumpka High School

Golden rushed for 106 yards on 16 carries including a touchdown run of 40 yards in the 26-24 win over Prattville. This was Wetumpka's first win over the Lions since 1974 although there have only been 10 meetings during that 36-year span. The senior completed 10-of-19 pass attempts for 155 yards and a 19-yard touchdown.

Hillcrest Tuscaloosa High School

Stephens rushed for 88 yards and two scores of 7 and 22 yards on 10 carries. The Patriots defeated rival Tuscaloosa County 23-19. Wingo completed nine-of-12 passing attempts for 173 yards with a short touchdown pass. He also rushed for 40 yards in the win.
